Honestly, I don’t really know why I decided to put up this website and keep this blog. I’m really not very good at keeping up with updating a website so I don’t know if this will be any different.
So why am I doing this? I’m hoping that by doing this, it will help me stay on task. I’m a big sports nut and I love collecting sports memorabilia. I collect a lot different things like signed baseballs, photos, jerseys, and other items like sports cards. A few months ago I came to the conclusion that my collection was getting a little too big and way too broad. I was essentially all over the place and it had no real focus and it was hard to manage. At that point I decided to do something I saw in an old Beckett magazine and start a “player specific collection”.
At that point, I needed to find a player to collect. I didn’t really have to think very long or hard on it. Even though I’m a die hard Cubs fan and more of a National League guy, my favorite player in baseball is Justin Morneau. I have a hard time explaining why though. Maybe it’s because he goes about his business in a quiet manner and doesn’t get a lot of national attention or maybe it’s because unlike a lot of other players, he chose to stay loyal to a small market team and sign a long term deal for much less than he would have gotten anywhere else. Or maybe it’s because we’re both lefty sluggers. Ok, that one might be a stretch.
I’m hoping that this site will serve a few purposes…
- I am wanting to document my quest to add items to my Morneau collection (hence the name of the site).
- Hopefully this site will eventually get me a couple leads on items that I don’t have.
- And I’m hoping that by documenting all this, I’ll stay on target and focus hard on my Morneau collection and not stray too much. Those who know me know that I’m weak and I’ll stray a little, but I’ll be sure to document all that as well.
So there you have it. That is the reason for this site and a little background. Feel free to comment at will on here and always let me know if you have anything Morneau you’re wanting to move! Thanks!
